Working in Tiger (with its 200 new features) is like being on a constant Easter Egg hunt. I keep disovering new features and shortcuts as I work and surf my favorite Mac sites. So, I’ve started a new OS X Tips category where I can keep track of my finds. And to help me remember them, I’ve configured my RSS screen saver to display the growing list of tips, tricks, and shortcuts that I come accross. I’ll also include tips for any of the Apple apps, including iLife and iWork, not just Tiger.
Here’s how to set up your screen saver to pull the RSS feed for Futurosity, and to submit your own tips…
First, you have to add the Futurosity feed to Safari.
- Click on this link to open the feed in a new window.
- Add the link to your bookmarks by selecting Add Bookmark from the Bookmarks menu. You can close the feed window after you’ve added the link.
Now you can add the feed to your RSS screen saver.
- Open System Preferences (here’s a shortcut: just press Option-Up Volume) and go to your Desktop and Screen Saver preferences.
- Select RSS Visualizer from the Screen Savers list (if you haven’t already seen this, you’re gonna love it).
- Click on the Options button. Select the Futurosity feed, then click the Done button.
- Click the Test button to view the screen saver. Then close System Preferences.
I hope to post tips, tricks, and shortcuts as I find them, but I need your help. When you stumble on something worth sharing, please let me know about it. I’ll look it over, edit it for the blog, and post it to the Tips category (usually within 48 hours) so it will show up in the RSS feed. I’ll give you credit and provide a link to your Web site if you include your URL (your email address will not not published).
Please send me your comments, questions, or feedback by clicking on Submit a Tip under the Futurosity menu, or post a comment using the form below.

I truly appreciate sharing your tips. I don’t have the program yet, but I plan to acquire it in the near future, and will use your post as reference.

I’m glad you like the tips. I haven’t been keeping them up, but I think you’ll find some good ones here when you do get Tiger.
