What’s On Your Dashboard? iPhoto Tip: 0-1-2 to Zoom Your View

Prior to Tiger, whenever I typed a word in Safari’s address bar, Safari automatically added “www” before it and “.com” after it. Since upgrading, however, this hasn’t worked for me and Safari takes me to some limbo on the Web instead of the site I was looking for. Worse, it saves the incorrect address in my history, so even if I’ve later corrected the address I can still be taken to the truncated URL.

Here’s a fix that worked for me, thanks to Randy Metzger on the Apple Safari discussion:

  1. Open System Preferences and click on Network in the Internet & Network category.
  2. Click on the Configure button, then on the TCP/IP tab.
  3. In the Search Domains field, type “.com” (excluding the quotes).
  4. Click Apply Now and close System Preferences.

Thanks, Randy!
