Macworld has published my review of MacJournal. MacJournal is a great little app, a personal favorite that I have used for several years. But I found this latest commercial version offered few improvements over the free version, which is still available.

Robert, I too liked Mac Journal and have been using it for a while. I’m wondering whether you’ve compared it to Devonthink Pro? For writing, research and data collection (of which I do a lot) do these two really stand up or is one better of using TextEdit, Finder and Spotlight?

I didn’t compare MacJournal to Devonthink for my review. I tried Devonthink long ago, but don’t remember too much about it (if you’ve used it, let me know what you think). I find myself using StickyBrain more than the other similar applications I’ve reviewed. There are two things about it that irritate me (you can’t set a default format for all entries and the Check Spelling As You Type doesn’t work for me), but otherwise, I like it a lot.
