iFamily for Tiger is a genealogy application for those who want to get the most out of their investment in the latest Apple Mac technology.

iFamily for Tiger is for people who think differently - Some Features:

  • Imports and exports Gedcom files.
  • Fast data entry and navigation.
  • Free updates.

What’s New:
Version 2.266:

Ancestors and Descendants Reports

The OneLinePerPerson option is now generated with leading tabs instead of leading spaces.

Family Group Sheet

The Family Group Sheet has been rewritten using Text Tables and can now be exported to a word processor for additional formating and editing.

Context Diagram

Added near relatives to the right click pop-up menu to enable the user to quickly navigate to Parents, Siblings, Children, Grandchildren, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles, Nephews and Nieces. This provides faster navigation than using right click in the Relatives pane.

Ancestors and Descendants Diagrams

As for the Context Diagram, added near relatives to the right click pop-up menu to enable the user to quickly navigate to Parents, Siblings, Children, Grandchildren, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles, Nephews and Nieces. Also added Print buttons to the Ancestors and Descendants panes in the lower half of the main window.

Event Dates Editing Dialog

Added an option to convert dates from yyyy-mm-dd and yyyy-mm to valid dates after importing a Gedcom file. These invalid date formats can be included in Gedcom files from two other (so far) genealogy applications.

People Index

Added an option to Show Duplicates. The user can choose to match on Name, Name + Birth Year or Name + Birth + Death Years.

Gedcom Import

Added UGED as an acceptable Gedcom file extension to handle non-standard Unicode Gedcom file names from MacFamilyTree.

Arial Fonts

If the required Arial fonts are not enabled then Font Book will be automatically invoked to allow the user to enable them.

Event Places

In the printed list generated from the Event Places dialog the Place names can now be inverted and sorted before printing. For instance Kennedy’s Creek, Wayne Co, KY, USA now appears in the report as USA, KY, Wayne Co, Kennedy’s Creek. This means that all events in Wayne Co are now listed together in the report. It also means that mis-spellings like Canady’s Creek or Canadas Creek are easier to spot.

Sources Add/Modify/Delete Dialog

Added a function to merge two Sources.  It first moves all the Source Citations to refer to another Source and then gives you the option to delete the original Source. This is very useful if you have imported a Gedcom file that contains a lot of duplicate Sources.

What’s New in V2.260

Sources

Improved memory management for databases that contain many Sources and Source References. With large databases the spinning beach ball occasionally occurred during a change of Focal Person.

Added a search filter for Sources to the Sources Add/Mod/Delete dialog, with options to filter on all Source fields or on any individual field. The search options are accessed by clicking on the disclosue triangle to the right of the Q in the search field.

Added a search filter to the Source Citations table to filter on Page Ref. The Source Citations can be sorted by clicking column headers.

The location of the vertical splitbar between Notes and Source Citations is now remembered the next time that the Sources dialog is invoked.

Corrected a bug that sometimes occurred after deleting a Source.

Corrected a bug in the Events pane that occasionally occurred with large databases when there a an Active Source and after new Event was added.

People Index

Added additional columns for database name, father, mother, spouses and todo in the comma delimited spreadsheet output.

The frame position of the People Index is now saved as a user default and reused in the next iFamily session.

Relatives Pane

Added a print button to generate a comma delimited (csv) file similar to the one for the People Index. This report can be very useful for creating “please fill in the blanks reports” that can be mailed to relatives to collect missing data. If you have a few spreadsheet skills then you may like to create something more elaborate.

Statistics Report

Added the statistics for Age At Death < 1, 1 - 10, 11 - 20, ... as both numbers and percentages.

Colors - CYMK, HSB and Grayscale

Reactivated the CYMK, HSB and Grayscale colour options in the ColorPanel.  For adjusting the background colour of the Context Diagram the HSB option in the ColorPanel is great - try it as follows: Reset the default colours; Leave the Saturation at 24%, the Brightness at 98%;  slide the Hue up/down from 0o - 360o.

Version 2.252

  • People Index - Added a button called “Generate Csv File” that creates a comma separated values (csv) file which can then be loaded into a spreadsheet application. The people included are those currently displayed in the Filtered/Sorted list of people in the table in the People Index panel.
  • Colors- Bug - Corrected a bug that occurred when choosing CYMK or Grayscale colors in the Color Panels. This bug has only been reported by one user. If you are using V2.250 or V2.251 and you get an error message that says something like “An exception occurred in iFamily V2.251 in CdDiagram.m : drawRect_1 at line 761″ and the error message also mentions a problem with colors then you need to: (a) delete the file called com.kswa.iFamilyForTiger.plist that is in folder xxxxx /Library /Preferences, where xxxxx is your Home directory, and (b) restart iFamily for Tiger and then (c) download V2.252.
