Directory Widget will look up directory information (e-mail addresses and more) from many colleges, universities, and other institutions (for example the National Institutes of Health). Although it uses LDAP (Lightweight Directory Address Protocol), the end user does not need to understand what LDAP is. The widget comes preloaded with settings for over 70 directory servers. Additionally, the user can add more servers to the widget. eMailman, LLC plans to release updates with additional servers. The widget defaults to the most recently used directory (or users can have multiple instances of the widget running so that their most frequently used directory is always available). Users can easily select from a different directory or add more. Users can then search by full or partial names. Results can be viewed with just names and e-mail addresses or with the full results returned by the server.
