Woah!!! This is amazing!! I had no idea people still used QuarkXPress! Big news!

I find it interesting that it’s filed under Business Applications rather than Graphics or Design … or all three perhaps, since it is an application. I haven’t used Quark since college twelve years ago. Glad to hear some third party companies are still supporting it.

Cary, ( and Robert ) have a look at Mori – formally from HogBaySoftware now found at http://apokalypsesoftware.com/products/mori – very good stuff and an excellent example of user-powered software where features and suggested and voted on by users to give the developer an idea of priorities. I use Mori in conjunction with Quicksilver ( although you don’t have to ) and the two packages make sweet music together.

I spent two hours putting together my iPhoto book, laying it out, choosing themes and coulours and text.
Clicked “Buy Book” only to find out that my country is not a “supported iPhoto Book country”. I don’t live in Botswana or Zanzibar. I live in Australia.
Very very few things make me want to not rave about Apple.
This is one of them.

I can’t really say if this is as good as NAV, but personally, I don’t worry too much about viruses on the Mac. ClamXav is the only antivirus software I’ve used since switching to OS X and I’ve never had any problems.

Cary, I don't think there's one application that will do everything you want to do. If Journler doesn't work for you, you might have a look at DEVONthink Pro. For project management, check out OmniPlan. Anyone else have any suggestions?

OK. I’ve looked at Daylite and Journier and am now even more confused. I need:

Somewhere to store all the notes that I take during the day (I keep a journal in front of me with telephone numbers, urls, names, and a variety of other short pieces of info — I can never find anything once its in that notebook).

Somewhere/somehow to link up all the emails, word docs, webpages, etc that I collect on a given subject. I do lots of research projects and now I have printouts galore. And, since they are spread out in different files its difficult to get my hands on any single piece I have in mind.

“Project management” type of software. Big research projects for work that need step by step project management.

At home, I am restoring my old victorian house and need to keep track of what gets done when, by whom, when decisions have to be made, phone numbers, model numbers, etc. All linked up.

So, maybe you can tell me which of the software will be best? Oh, Do any of them work with del.icio.us? I’ve hundred of tagged web sites!

Cary, there are a number of excellent applications available that might work for you. If you need an integrated productivity suite (calendar, contacts, etc.), take a look at Daylite. My favorite notebook app is Journler . It's free and full of features.

Right now, I’m looking for some good organizing software, like notebook, to keep my exploding information universe under control. What with appointments, to do’s, tons of research, phone contacts, summaries of phone conversations, etc.

My three Dads were Catholic, Jewish, Protestant…over the years I have acquired friends who are Pagan, New Age, Buddist, Hindu, and Moslem…
I see no problem with Journey to Wild Devine for anyone of any belief. That is of course if your beliefs are strong enough to stand in a world where everyone’s beliefs are allowed to stand. There is no missionary work going on in this software. Imagery is multicultural and is meant to evoke a “different” place. The techniques shown work. If someone who speaks Chinese choses that language to speak to me, I wouldnt be surprised. Why be surprised if the cultures that orginated the techniques show through? We are never surpried when computer words in English appear in the middle of other languages….;}
The game is a great nuturing of the spirit -whether you play or pray.

I have used iphoto and mypublisher to print the same books.. They were very similar, but I liked the iphoto quality just a little bit better… the overall binding was a bit nicer. (I used the Mac plugin for mypublisher… I did not use their software to create the books.. I used iPhoto). The main reason to go with MyPublisher is if you want more binding color options. I have published 3 different books with them, and wanted some color variance. The Mac colors did not match my cover photos.

Stay away from Picaboo for anything other than templates. I returned my books for a refund with them. Their software does not reflect the finished product accurately. They bled my pictures off the page on all four sides by about a half inch in all directions on an 8×11 book. I created each page in photoshop, so my final product was ruined. When questioned, they said that this was a necessity to get the page to bleed to the edge. In all honesty, I did add white borders before I printed with Mac, so they may do the same thing… but I doubt it is as bad.

Hey there,

Just coming up on my first anniversary with my mighty mouse. Had noticed a few intermittent stoppages with my mighty mouse …always can free a fter a moment or two.

The upside down alone didn’t work but used a bit of methyl hydrate …and it works like a charm. Rubbed a bit on and then proceeded to rotate on clean cloth. Works fine. Not sure if the methyl will destroy the ball but it seems good as new now.
