BookKeeper is a citation tool. It currently formats bibliographies and endnotes in the MLA style, formats outlines, and generates output in HTML. Additional styles may be included with plug-ins (a plug-in development kit is available). All you supply is the information, and BookKeeper will add in the punctuation and other details. This program takes over menial documentation technicalities and lets you concentrate on the most important part of your paper: the content.

Hesperides – J.R.R. Tolkien`s Sindarin language dictionary

Hesperides is an adaptation of Didier Willis’ Dragon Flame, a sindarin (the grey-elven language, invented by J.R.R. Tolkien) dictionary, to Mac OS X.

So, Mac Lovers can now be lambendili too : Hesperides integrates Didier’s sindarin dictionary, distributed on his web site as a XML file, with a state-of-the-art Mac OS X interface and the Narmacil engine (to display the words using Tengwar).

Major architecture changes : Hesperides now supports AppleScript.
Hesperides can now transcribe English words to Tengwar.
Fixed major encoding problems in the Tengwar transcription (which turned out to be wrong for words with diacritics).

zxsp – Simulator for the historic ZX Spectrum home computer family

zxsp is a simulator for the historic Sinclair ZX home computer families. Main supported platform is Mac OS X. Versions for classic MacOS and old versions of Mac OS X are still available from the zxsp download page.

zxsp supports “.sna” and “.z80″ snapshot files, “.tap”, “.tzx”, “.80″, “.81″, “.o”, “.p” tape files, excellent sound, precise screen and border effects, joysticks, mouse, a virtual tape recorder and virtual keyboards.

zxsp can load from and save to a built-in virtual tape recorder or a real-world cassette recorder or a real-world Specci. It also can dup real-world cassette tapes to “.tap” files or vice versa.

zxsp supports the black&white models ZX80 and ZX81, the ZX Spectrum models with 16K and 48K ram, the +128, +2 and the +2A/+2B; including the Spanish and French versions. If you still own one of the emulated machines and find that the simulation does not match the original, you are welcome to contact me for further improvement. Just keep the original thing ready for tests. :-)

zxsp comes with a debugger with register edit for the main chips, a video beam position indicator, single stepper and memory disassembly. The machine can be throttled down to 1 Hz or overdrived to 20 MHz cpu clock. You can directly load Z80 assembler sources into zxsp.

WordLookup – Language word converter

WordLookup is an application for converting words and phrases between languages. WordLookup 3 supports, amongst other combinations, conversion between English and Arabic, Chinese, New Zealand Maori, Japanese, Latin and German.

WordLookup 3 only runs on versions of MacOS-X 10.4.4 and greater although an older version will run on 10.3.9. Instructions on downloading the data for use with WordLookup 3 can be obtained from the Help menu.

Latin Words – Latin dictionary

Latin Words is a dictionary that contains over 30,000 entries, as would be counted in an ordinary dictionary. This expands to almost twice that number of individual stems, and, through additional word construction with hundreds of prefixes and suffixes, may generate more, leading to many hundreds of thousands of ‘words’ that can be formed by declension and conjugation.

Japanese Vocab – Study Japanese vocabulary

CocoAspell – Open source spell-checker

Aspell is an Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. Its main feature is that it does a much better job of coming up with possible suggestions than Ispell does. In fact recent tests shows that it even does better than Microsoft Word 97’s spell checker or just about any other spell checker I have seen. It also has support for checking (La)TeX and HTML files, and run time support for other non English languages.
